Commissions

Step 1: Client Consultation

Step 4: Cutting-off ceremony

Step 3: Weaving

Step 2 : Concept accepted

Commissioning begins with discussions between Marilyn and the client or agent.

Marilyn designs unique works specifically for you and the space in which the tapestry will be hung. Creative assistance and direction, in collaboration with other artists can also be arranged.

After the decision to proceed is made, detailed planning between the client and Marilyn is undertaken prior to producing the design.

Once the design is accepted, a quotation consisting of the design brief, completion date, and price is supplied.

Payment of 50% upon acceptance of the quotation, a 25% progress payment halfway through the work with the balance on completion is required.

Marilyn then produces the design and weaving commences.

The client is welcome to visit the workshop to view the weaving process of the work.

Photos of the work are posted on the website as work progresses.

A video could also be put on the website or sent to the client.

When weaving is completed, the 'cutting-off' ceremony is undertaken. The client is asked to complete the final knots of the work and then to cut the Tapestry from the loom.

Your now completed Tapestry is packaged for delivery to the chosen site of its hanging.

Note: Marilyn is available to oversee the hanging of works, within New Zealand.
